Brian's Bio
From time-to-time, people on the radio are asked to write a bio.  For most of us, it's an uncomfortable task.  I'm no exception.  Without embellishment, which would make this far more interesting.....
I've lived in several cities and states.  Two of which, I'd like to forget but among my favorites are Minneapolis Minnesota, Jacksonville Florida and now Raleigh.  There is a lot to like about the Triangle.  It should be no surprise that the Triangle consistently shows up on 'best' lists.
I've been in Raleigh a little over three years and have yet to pick my ACC team, though my girlfriend has made it clear that a team in Chapel Hill is unacceptable.  But what's not to like about Roy Williams?  I doubt I could get Roy on the phone but I did 'work' with him in Lawrence.  I was the dopey board operator for his Kansas Jayhawk radio show.  I think we once exchanged a 'hello'.  That's my brush with fame.
Beyond not having committed to an ACC team, I'm a life-long frustrated Vikings' fan and equality frustrated in waiting for Ernie Els (golf) to get his act together, again.

BILLY JOEL, "The Stranger 30th Anniversary" teaser

Paul McCartney has responded to our request for a comment in regards to U-K press reports that he will kick off a two-year world tour in the fall, which they say would be his last full-scale outing. He tells us, "A tour is being talked about, but there is no definite news at the moment." McCartney has only done sporadic dates -- including this Saturday in Kiev, Ukraine -- since his last tour in 2005. --Sal Cirrincione

While it seems unlikely the Eagles would reunite with Don Felder, their former guitarist is optimistic. He tells us, "I think that music and that experience is bigger than anyone of us, and if we could all rise above the small, petty arguments and hostility and dollar and actually focus back on the music, I think there's a chance that could happen." Felder was given the boot from the Eagles in 2001. He writes about his experiences in his new book, Heaven and Hell: My Life in the Eagles (1974-2001).

Felder has listened to the Eagles' new album, Long Road Out of Eden, and thinks Joe Walsh is "really just not present," adding that "it was kind of a waste of a brilliant talent in my opinion. I'm sure Joe will have his day." --Sal Cirrincione

U-2
will not be taking a page out of Radiohead's promotional planning kit and giving away copies of their next album. Manager Paul McGuiness tells the B-B-C, "We should all be aware that Radiohead's honesty box release of their album to some extent backfired. Even though it was available on their website for no money at all, if that was what you preferred to pay, 60 to 70 percent of the people who downloaded the record stole it anyway, even though it was available for free... There will be events around the release of the album, but for U-2 physical sales are still an enormous part of our business and we still sell a lot of actual C-Ds." The album, due out in late October, is the band's first album since 2004's How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb. --Sal Cirrincione

As reported last week, Wolfgang's Vault, the site that streams concerts recorded at venues run by late promoter Bill Graham, has struck a deal with Universal Music Group to start selling downloads of the label's artists. But don't look for any recordings by Jimi Hendrix. U-M-E will only release performances with which they have rights or can acquire the rights. Experience Hendrix, which oversees the late guitarist's estate, has not granted any rights to the release of his performances. Currently, almost 500 concerts can be downloaded from the Wolfgang site, with many more coming in the next two months. The deal will also allow Universal to eventually release the concerts on C-D. --Sal Cirrincione
